Introducing BYO ClickHouse for UserFlux
We’re partnering with ClickHouse to launch our BYO (Bring Your Own) ClickHouse offering — a way to connect your existing ClickHouse Cloud warehouse directly to UserFlux and run the full CDP on top of your own infrastructure.
Instead of copying your data into our systems, UserFlux operates as a layer on top of your ClickHouse instance. Your customer events, profiles, and segments all live in tables you own, in a warehouse you already manage. UserFlux handles the CDP workloads — identity resolution, audience building, real-time user event pipeline, marketing automation, ML personalisation models, and more — while your data never leaves your environment.
If you’re already running ClickHouse Cloud as part of your data stack, this means your CDP becomes a native extension of it rather than a disconnected tool sitting alongside it.
Why Composable CDPs are the future
With traditional CDPs, the moment you need to utiltize its data anywhere else in your organization, such as running a custom query across your entire data warehouse, or feeding customer profiles into an internal ML pipeline, you hit a wall. Your customer data lives in a silo that's accessible only through their UI or a limited API.
The Composable CDP model has been gaining traction for good reason. Engineering and data teams have spent years building robust data infrastructure — ETL pipelines, data models, governance policies, access controls. A traditional CDP ignores all of that and asks you to start from scratch inside its own ecosystem.
With BYO ClickHouse, that investment isn’t wasted. Here’s what changes:
Your data stays where it is. No replication into a third-party database. No sync jobs to keep two sources of truth aligned. Your ClickHouse instance is the single source of truth, and UserFlux reads from and writes to it directly.
Full SQL access to your CDP data. Every user event, profile, computed audience segment, personalise engine output, and more — it’s all queryable with standard SQL in your own warehouse. Join it with product data, pipe it into dbt models, feed it to your ML stack. There are no export limitations or proprietary formats standing in the way.
Governance and compliance stay simple. Your data residency, encryption, and access controls are already configured in ClickHouse Cloud. Because the data doesn’t move, you don’t need to audit or secure a second system. SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA — your existing compliance posture extends naturally to your CDP.
Performance at scale. ClickHouse is built for fast analytical queries over massive datasets. UserFlux is built on ClickHouse natively, so the BYO model isn’t an afterthought — it’s a natural fit. Sub-second query performance on billions of events, without provisioning separate infrastructure.
How It Works
The setup is straightforward. You provide your ClickHouse Cloud connection details, and UserFlux provisions the necessary tables within your instance. From there, you use UserFlux exactly as you would on our managed infrastructure — SDKs for event ingestion, the UI for audience building and journey orchestration, APIs for programmatic access — except everything runs against your warehouse.
There’s no forklift migration. If you’re already sending events to ClickHouse through your own pipelines, UserFlux can work alongside that existing data. If you want to use our SDKs for client-side and server-side event collection, those events land directly in your ClickHouse tables.
The Bigger Picture
We believe that over time, most data products will converge into native modules of an organisation's central data warehouse. The warehouse is already the gravitational centre of the modern data stack — it's where the data lives, where governance is enforced, and where teams do their most critical work. It's only natural that the products built on top of that data collapse inward toward it.
You can already see this happening. ClickHouse acquired HyperDX and rolled observability directly into ClickHouse Cloud as ClickStack. Snowflake has invested in composable CDP infrastructure. Databricks continues to absorb adjacent workloads into its lakehouse platform. The cloud warehouses aren't just storage anymore — they're becoming the runtime for entire categories of data products.
Customer data is one of the largest and most critical of those categories. CDP workloads represent some of the highest data volumes in any organisation and touch nearly every team — marketing, product, engineering, support. It only makes sense that this vertical goes warehouse-native.
That's exactly what BYO ClickHouse is with UserFlux - you get a full-featured CDP running as a native extension of your ClickHouse Cloud instance.
